Intro to Risograph Printing (Sunday, July 14th 1-5pm)

Sold out

Sunday, July 14th 1-5pm

Open to the public. Learn the basics of printing with the risograph, a machine that looks like a photocopier and works like a screen printer. During this introductory workshop, we will examine the ins and outs of the machine and discuss what types of projects translate well to riso printing. We will also cover file prep, paper selection, design for multiple colors, troubleshooting common problems, and an overview of Bay Area Risograph resources. Each participant will have the opportunity to print an edition of 25 two-color prints.

You can bring a hard copy of your image (designed in black and white or converted to grayscale) on 8.5”x11” paper. For two-color printing, your image must be color separated into two grayscale images. Materials will also be available for image making during class.

Current ink colors: Black, Federal Blue, Blue, Teal, Light Teal, Cranberry, Green, Hunter Green, Bright Red, Fluorescent Pink, Orange and Yellow.

Taught by Amy Burek. This class will be held in the Riso Lab at the Compound Studios in Emeryville, CA.
